SOLO SINGING

Gisela came to solo singing through her work as accompanist but has now expanded this part of her career to a professional level, through both teaching and performing.

In 2014 she started lessons with Jessica Cash, formerly professor at the Guildhall School of Music.
In August 2015, she and pianist Siân Maddock performed a recital with an all German programme in Guy’s hospital, organised by BreathAHR and linked to the fundraising event @culturalcycle.

She has performed in several fundraising concerts for the Friends of the Alexander Technique, as accompanist as well as a singer (solo and ensembles).

As a keen chamber musician, Gisela likes exploring the combination of voice and instruments beside the piano.

In summer 2016 she started singing in a Chamber trio with cellist Una Birtchnell and pianist John Human. The trio have so far performed two full concert programmes in various venues in London as well as in Cheltenham.
Gisela has also sung in trio concerts with violist Sarah Pope and clarinetist Alistair Logan.

Gisela has appeared in services, at functions and festivals throughout London and has given several vocal recitals with pianists Izabella Bako and John Human.

In March 2019 she joined the team of classical vocal teachers at the City Lit Institute and is currently teaching one of the beginners courses.

Gisela enjoys singing repertoire from all musical eras with special focus on oratorio and art song.
Her latest solo programme featured Debussy’s “Ariettes oubliées” and a selection of songs by Richard Strauss.

Projects this year include a chamber trio concert with Elisabeth Parry, flute,  and pianist John Alley, and a recital with Alistair Logan and John Human.

A live-streamed vocal recital with John Human is planned for September 2020, featuring repertoire from oratorios and art songs spanning several centuries.
